GSD London is a specialist commercial painting and decorating subcontractor working for main contractors, quantity surveyors, property managers and private clients across London. GSD London delivers painting and decorating across eight sectors in London: new build, heritage, education, fit-out, external, commercial, healthcare and high-end residential, plus leisure and hospitality.
The service is the same on every one: priced from the specification, planned around the site's programme and access, protected and handed back area by area, and signed off with the site team before the following trade moves in.
New build decoration is the last trade before handover and the first thing the client sees. We work to the main contractor's programme: mist coat once the plaster is dry, first finish coat after second fix, final coat once the following trades are out, plot by plot or zone by zone. Recent new build packages include The Arc, Hershall Street and Douglas Bader Estate.

Listed and historic buildings need repair before replacement, sample panels before the wider works, and traditional systems applied by hand. We record the existing finishes, agree the sample with the architect or conservation officer, and keep it on site as the standard for inspection. Recent heritage projects include Brighton Pavilion, All Souls Church and the Norwegian Embassy.

Schools and colleges stay in use while we work. Decoration and window repair are planned around the school day and the holidays, with the grounds protected and each area handed back before pupils return. Recent education projects include Stroud Green Primary School, Gayhurst School and Harrow College.

On fit-out and refurbishment we follow the trades ahead of us and hand over to the ones behind. Decoration and on-site spraying are sequenced into the programme, with areas released, protected, finished and inspected in turn. Recent fit-out projects include Vodafone House, Bracknell, 22 Baker Street and the Pembroke Club.

External work is judged from the street. Window repair, facade decoration and cladding respray are delivered from scaffold, mast climber or rope access, planned around the weather limits of the coating system and with the public realm below protected. Recent external projects include Oxford Street, CATS Global School and The Wellington Hotel.

Offices, retail and public buildings, most of them occupied while we work. Areas are zoned, worked out of hours where needed, protected at the start of each shift and handed back before the building reopens. Recent commercial projects include The O2 Arena, Lee Valley Ice Centre and David Lloyd St Neots.

Hospitals do not close for decoration. Work is planned around clinical activity, with containment of dust and odour, low odour systems, and rooms handed back ready for patients and staff at the end of each shift. Recent healthcare projects include Great Ormond Street Hospital and a new 200-room wing at King's College Hospital.

Prime residential and private clients expect a finish that stands close inspection: hand-finished joinery, specialist finishes and colour matched on the wall, not on a card. We work to the designer's specification with protection of finishes and fittings throughout. Recent high-end projects include 47 Chester Square, Holland Park Villas and the American Embassy residence.

GSD completed the communal redecoration package valued at £100,000 at the Marriott Mayfair Grand Residencies, a 5* hotel. The project was completed in a tight 12-week program with GSD working with us to deliver it to a high standard. There were several hurdles to overcome throughout the job due to client changes, but each change was dealt with professionally by the project team from GSD. After the contract completion, the client praised the attention to detail provided by GSD and their outstanding work ethic in meeting the high expectations/time constraints of the project
